Enterprise Level Dynamic Triaxial Testing

Model:ELDyn

Use:The GDS Enterprise Level Dynamic Triaxial Testing System (ELDYN) is an entry level dynamic triaxial system, based on an axially-stiff load frame with a beam mounted electro-mechanical actuator.

Standard:ASTM D-3999, ASTM D-5311,GB/T50123-2019

Description:
The GDS Enterprise Level Dynamic Triaxial Testing System (ELDYN) is an entry level dynamic triaxial system, based on an axially-stiff load frame with a beam mounted electro-mechanical actuator.
The ELDYN has been designed to fulfil the demand within the geotechnical laboratory testing industry for a lower cost, more basic dynamic triaxial testing system, yet still perform to the very advanced standards that customers expect from GDS.

Features & Benefits:
  • Control electronics mounted in the base of the loadframe to reduce the required laboratory space.
  • The ELDYN system supersedes systems using pneumatic actuators in terms of life costs and overall useable performance.
  • Is powered by single phase (220Vac) from a standard outlet (EU spec) or via a supplied transformer.
  • Does not require a compressor for axial load / stress / displacement.
  • Electro-mechanical systems can carry out full load dynamic testing to the stated frequency.  Pneumatic systems tend to reduce the available amplitude with load due to the amount of air that needs to be moved from one side of the actuator to the other.
  • ELDYN can carry out testing up to the rated frequency with useful amplitudes (+/-4mm at up to 5kN or 10kN optionally).
  • Has the convenience of a traditional style of loadframe (triaxial cells can be interchanged).
  • Can carry out static and dynamic testing.
  • Protected from over-travel.
  • Ideal for small strain testing.
  • Ease of use from GDSLAB software.
  • Electro-mechanical systems do not require large noisy power packs to be running all the time, the ELDYN only requires a mains electricity outlet.
  • Electro-mechanical systems are more environmentally friendly as they draw the energy required to do the test in hand this gives lower whole life costs.
  • Pneumatic systems are generally not good at testing above 0.5Hz due to compressibility of the air moving into and out of the actuator.
  • Pneumatic systems are not easy to control accurately at very small strains and as such they are not usually acceptable for long term creep tests.
  • Closed loop control - most competing pneumatic systems have to be tuned manually to give the required performance.
  • Safer operation there are no high pressure air or hydraulic pipelines required.
  • Pneumatic systems are very difficult to control in any other waveform than sinusoidal.
  • No large compressor is required to supply the dynamic actuator.
  • Lower life costs due to lower servicing requirement.
Key features Benefits to the user
Electro-mechanical system: The ELDYN system supersedes systems using pneumatic actuators in terms of life costs and overall usable performance. Electro-mechanical systems can carry out full load dynamic testing to the stated frequency. Pneumatic systems tend to reduce the available amplitude with load due to the amount of air that needs to be moved from one side of the actuator to the other.
Cost savings, environmental benefits and safer operation: Electro-mechanical systems are more environmentally friendly as they only  draw the energy required to do the test, resulting in lower life costs. Electro-mechanical systems are also safer to run due to no high pressure air or hydraulic pipelines being required. No large noisy power packs are required to be running all the time, the ELDYN only requires a standard mains electricity outlet, this reduces the laboratory space required and the installation costs.
